what is a design collective?
join us.
A design collective honors every person on the team--the artisans who help interior designers or decorators to create the individual pieces of furniture, weave the rugs; hand-paint the wallpaper; sew the window treatments; and who cut, carve and finish wood to become bannisters, tables, doors and window moldings, etc. Without the craftsman and artisans, the team would fail to deliver a stunning, memorable project.
A design collective also acknowledges that the final product is a collaboration between the clients and the professionals hired to help realize their unique vision. Otherwise, the vision would be driven solely by the architect, interior designer, or builder and the client is the benefactor. In those cases, the final design flows from the signature style of an architect or designer without the clients' input or direction (e.g. projects by Frank Lloyd Wright).
"We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond."
Gwendoyn Brooks, Poet"Despite the persistent image of the architect as a heroic loner erecting monumental edifices through sheer force of will, the building art has always been a highly cooperative enterprise."
Martin Filler""I'm a true believer in the strength of teamwork, in the power of dreams, and in the absolute necissity of a support structure."
Julie Payette"when you form a team, WHY do you form a team? because teamwork builds trust and trust builds speed."
Russel Honore
"If you design for everyone, you design for no one."
-MIES VAN DER ROHE
MUSIC
When people look to create a 'feeling' in a space, and not just a 'look', more emphasis is being placed on engaging all 5 senses including finding your home's own signature scent. I just want to know--"what music are they playing?"
